About Me
Hello! My name is Amber Barclay. My love for Scottish Highland Dancing began when I met and married my bagpiper husband back in 2004. He would take me to various Highland Games to watch his band compete. While at the games, I was able to watch the Highland Dance competitions, and immediately fell in love with this style of dance! I began taking lessons from a family member and dance teacher, Julie Earl, and started my competitive dancing career. I found success under Julie's tutelage in the competition circuit, and was privileged to participate in numerous shows and programs with The Utah Pipe Band.
After several years of taking lessons from Julie, and after a move to Las Vegas, I met and began taking lessons from my second dance teacher, Kristen Brimhall. While living there, I became a member of the Las Vegas Highland Dance Association, and participated in the shows, and programs being a member afforded me. With Kristen's coaching, I was able to take my Highland Dance teacher's exam in 2013 with Ann Johnson. I am now SDTA certified and a member of FUSTA. I have been teaching Highland Dance since receiving my teacher's certification.
Today, I live in Lehi, Utah, and have students of all ages. I currently have both competitive and recreational students, and I love teaching! I believe Highland Dancing should be both FUN and CHALLENGING! I want my students to develop and harbor the same love and pride that I have for Highland Dancing. To see the joy dancing brings my students is priceless.
